You are invited to New Orleans Deaf Access to Justice & Deaf In Prison Conference / CEUs offered Wednesday, May 27 2015

Greetings:

Helping Educate to Advance the Rights for the Deaf (HEARD) would like to formally invite you to our New Orleans Deaf Access to Justice & Deaf In Prison Conference on May 30, 2015.

This will be an opportunity to communities about what is occurring around the country related to the topics of “Deaf Access to Justice” and “Deaf in Prison.” Three of our nation’s chief advocate attorneys will share their experiences working with law enforcement, courts, correctional systems, and working on wrongful convictions. We will also have a panel of returned Deaf citizens who will share their journeys through the justice system. Susan Griffin, attorney for Louisiana’s Department of Corrections, will share Louisiana’s strides in improving access for incarcerated Deaf persons. Finally, the day will end with a community-led discussion on how to get involved with efforts to improve Deaf Access to Justice.

This conference is free and open to the public and we encourage you to invite everyone you know to be a part of this historic conference. The flyer for the event is attached to this email. For more information, visit our Facebook event page here.

Hope to see you there!
