Welcome to the 3rd Mississippi DeafFest 2015 !
May 8th & 9th, 2015 This year marks the 3rd bi-annual of Deaf Festival and it’s going to be AMAZING.
Let’s make it a Fantastic Festival. – Spread the Word!!?
DEAFFEST 2015 takes place May 8th and 9th 2015 in Ocean Springs Mississippi – The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education and Mississippi Coast Coliseum & Convention Center in Biloxi Mississippi.
What is DEAFFEST? DEAFFEST is a festival that occurs to bring everyone together and share a day of new experiences, to learn new things, to see old friends, to make new friends, and to be in awe of something you may have never witnessed before.
The festival is an event for everyone from both the deaf and hearing communities. It is an opportunity for Deaf and Hearing of Hearing children or any child to see what possibilities may lay ahead for them. It takes a willingness to dream and follow that dream which passion and motivation. The event is for anyone, whether Deaf, Hearing of Hearing, a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) or a hearing individual. You are truly welcome whether you use American Sign Language or do not. Come be a part of something WONDERFUL. Come see entertainment at its best!
It’s going to be something really special. We love this crazy and outrageously fun festival more than just about anything on this planet. We cannot WAIT. Stay tuned here and to the DEAFFEST 2015 website – www.deaffestmississippi.com for all the up-to-date announcements about the exciting stuff we have planned for this year. And trust me there is going to be a LOT of exciting stuff.
DEAFFEST is thrilled to open the fest with John Maucere – A seasoned International performer.

LOCATED OFF GAUSE BLVD (YOU CANT MISS IT, NEXT RUBY’S TUESDAYS) 1677 Barbataria Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072 (near McDonald’s) Elmwood Interpreter Mingle The Code: an analytical approachDates: June 10 – July 8, 2015 CEUs: 1.0 (RID approved Professional Studies) Limited to 30 participants Sign Language interpreters make crucial decisions all the time. We are in the business of facilitating the most personal and private communications. Using the RID/NAD Code of Professional conduct, as a guide, we navigate through some of the most difficult judgment calls. “The Code: an analytical approach” is a five week course involving video lectures and activities you do in your own home or work space. We are offering 1.0 CEUs to each person that completes the five-week course. At the end of the course, participants will have a clearer understanding of Value Systems and what role they play in making value judgments in the context of the Code of Professional Conduct. It is hoped each participant will be able to ascertain which interpreting assignments or situations can be embraced and those that should be avoided. Here is how it works. Beginning Wednesday, June 10th the instructor, David Hylan, MS, CI/CT will post a weekly video lecture for you to watch. At the end of the lecture you will be given an activity to complete. You will email your activity to David so he can provide you feedback, if appropriate. You will also be given a topic to discuss on the virtual classroom message board. You are expected to make at least two posts on the message board for each topic. At the end of the five weeks you will have completed five lectures, five activities, and at least five topic discussions – one each week. The last day to register is June 7, 2015. This class will be limited to the first 30 people that register. REFUND POLICY: No refunds are available. REGISTER NOW

The Deaf Church in New Orleans
Presents
Work at Home FREE Workshop (Part 2)
You can attend Part 2 even if you have not attended part 1. This workshop will focus on helping participants to find several opportunities of legitimate sources to earn an income from home. Often people are hesitant to accept opportunities to earn money at home for fear of being fooled by scams and con schemes. These resources that we will share with and demonstrated to participants have been tried and tested. No pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing businesses will be shared. No one teaching or assisting in the class will make any money off of your work. General tips on job searching and interview techniques will also be discussed.
Not everyone will want to work at home. For those who do not want to work at home, the job opportunities and skills can be used as a supplement to income while seeking an outside of the home job. Job applications, resumes, and interview training also will be provided. Each participant will have an opportunity to work with an assistant to create or update their resume.
